Where do I begin.
So I had the misfortune of finding out that a photo taken of me on vacation by my boyfriend, was stolen and used without my permission here on the lovely r/fatpeoplehate on reddit. It not only disappoints me that people think that this behavior is okay, but that this subreddit even exists and hasn’t been removed at this point. There are TONS of photos of (mostly) women posted there; selfies stolen their personal blogs/facebooks/instagrams what have you (WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION), and posted on this horrible subreddit for people to harass them and leave hundreds of negative comments bravely behind their computer screens where no one can see them. I have always struggled with my weight and found it hard to get dressed and leave my bed some days, and have only recently started to accept the person I am after years of depression and health issues. I feel extremely violated and hurt that someone thought it was okay to take something that isn’t theirs, and use it for their own amusement and kicks.
We have since contacted reddit requesting them to remove this subreddit, but I find that doubtful considering how many removal requests they have probably received in the past for this forum, and it still remains active.
All I ask from you guys, is that you can please signal boost this post and hopefully get this horrible subreddit taken down for good for the sake of the poor unsuspecting people whose privacy has been violated and self worth diminished by these garbage people who have nothing better to do.
thanks for all of your support so far! keep spreading the word
if you can, please message ‘caught-u-mirin’ on reddit (the person who stole my photo and made the post above) and kindly (or not) request him/her to remove that post!
This is not cool. I would go on a long rant but long story short: it’s really fucking disgusting how entitled these dudes are to even take a woman’s picture and bash it like that. Yes, it’s public, but putting it up online without the person’s consent is cowardly, disrespectful and inhumane. They went against the owners’ wishes (it’s personal, showing people their own lives and expressing themselves as celebration) and abused it; it’s fucking disgusting.
This is the response from the lovely OP of the thread.
I don’t need to point out the obvious, but I will anyway.
Wow, what a spectacular replica. Truly an artist at work, a master to detail.
You know why this is really funny to me? These people try to act like fat folk are the delusional ones, when they can’t even make a point without so much as over exaggerating as much as humanly possible. Is there some kinda thing where people actually view other people as fatter than they actually are? Is that what this sub forum is? The body type in the illustration is nothing shameful, but it is nothing like the person that was actually posted.
'I can't actually make my point with using actual facts or realistic representations, so I'm just going to do whatever the fuck I want to make make my “point.” Here! Let me add all of these rolls, tons of cellulite, a gigantic scowl. I mean, I know she doesn't ACTUALLY possess any of these things, but a size 16 is definitely the same size as a 26!!!'.
This person claims to have two best friends who are fat, loves them to pieces, would DIE for them, but somehow lacks absolutely any empathy for fat strangers. They see fat people (their ‘friends’) as deserving of so little respect that they post on a forum that is dedicated to the dehumanization of fat people. This person has two bestie fatties, while chiming in on a board that uses the terms ‘hamplanet’ and ‘landwhales’ to refer to to people like them. Wow, they must feel really lucky to have a buddy like her.
They try to act like being fat is a serious ‘condition’ and yet they treat said people with perceived disease as though they’re not human. By this logic, there is a board solely for the purpose of making fun of diseased individuals. This whole thing just goes to show that they aren’t doing this shit because of the health of anyone. This is a picture of a size 16/18 girl at the largest (very little to no cellulite, thin arms, thin face, shoulders, chest, moderately wide hips/thighs and a little belly) and they’re treating her the same as they treat someone who is actually, respectfully, fat. Is there a board for alcoholics hate? Smokers hate? You know, where they take pictures of people smoking or holding a cigarette and talk about how absolutely disgusting and what a waste of space they are? Nah? Figured as much. Even though if you’re a fatty doing ANYTHING then you’re fair game. Hiking? Disgusting hamplanet. Swimming? God, look at this landwhale. Staying in the house and not going out? What a lazy fat pig. Going to the gym? Look at how pathetic this fat fuck is.
By the way, since when is ‘just eating less and not exercising’ the equation to being healthy? I was under the impression that anyone, thin or fat, has a much higher risk of developing health problems if they’re sedentary.
Yeah, another former fatty using the logic of ‘ooooh I was SO unhappy and I saw people making fun of me on a regular basis and that made me really unhappy and I’m all better (skinny) now, so let me try to fix you by telling YOU how disgusting you are and joining the ranks of people who used to make me feel shitty!’. Former fatty, two fat best friends, is posting on a forum entirely made for telling fat people how pathetic and worthless they are. Crying out, ‘you’re living half a life! you’re going to die!’..even though everyone is going to die and this girl looks like she is exactly where she wants to be. Happy, content, in the water, presumably at a lake somewhere. It’s funny how they make assumptions about fat people not being able to do things they want to do while using representations of them clearly being happy and enjoying their lives. This person is outdoors, not sitting at home/eating/whatever other fat stereotype they can come up with, swimming, and the fact that they wore a bikini was enough for them to be worthy of hate and ridicule. We’re apparently the delusional ones, but somehow it seems they’re the ones who refuse to see the whole picture and look at us as actual people with the capability of determining whether we’re happy or not.
